VIOLIN - JUNIOR MASTERCLASS
Lydia
Altenburger
Lydia Altenburger was born in London, where she studied on scholarship at the Purcell School of Music and subsequently at the Royal Academy of Music. She leads the Junior Masterclass for young talents at the Althofen Masterclasses.
She studied violin with Ani Schnarch, Marianne Thorsen, and Howard Davies, and piano with Druvi de Saram. She graduated with honors in both instruments. During her studies, she also discovered her love for the viola and has played both instruments equally ever since.
As a chamber musician, she regularly performs both as a violinist and violist at festivals such as Prussia Cove (United Kingdom), Loisiarte, Schwäbischer Frühling (Germany), Con Anima (Austria), and Blumenstein Musiktage (Switzerland). Lydia Altenburger performs with distinguished chamber music partners such as Reinhard Latzko, Dorothy Khadem-Missagh, Christian Poltera, Jennifer Stumm, Cornelia Hermann, Matthias Bartholomey, and the Musikbanda Franui.
As a violin and viola teacher, she particularly enjoys working with children and has had success with students who regularly win first prizes at Prima la Musica, as well as with children who are supported by the Junge Akademie in Vienna.
Since 2023, Lydia Altenburger has been teaching her own violin and viola class at the Hernals Music School in Vienna.
Lydia is a lecturer at the master classes for children at the Allegro Vivo Summer Academy in the Waldviertel, at the Music Days in Lilienfeld and at World Music Masterclasses in Vienna.
