THE MASTERCLASSES
I'm looking forward to next summer with great anticipation, when we'll be hosting the Althofen Masterclasses for the fourth time in the enchanting town of Althofen in Carinthia, featuring highly respected artists who teach at renowned music universities and academies in Vienna, Klagenfurt, Copenhagen, and Antwerp. Young musicians from a wide variety of countries will come to Althofen to expand their skills through intensive exchange with international professors. Exciting encounters are guaranteed when the masterclasses once again open their doors to our audience.
You are welcome to follow the intensive work of the young artists during lessons or the results on stage at our freely accessible concerts.
Promoting regional talent is once again a top priority for us this year. At least six spots have been reserved for young musicians from Carinthia. Our final concert will again feature a competition, offering prizes totaling €15,400, as well as additional performance opportunities.
In addition to their musical education, students can enjoy concerts in the charming, Italianate old town of Althofen, cool off in the outdoor pool right next to their accommodation, visit the Auer von Welsbach Museum, explore cycling and hiking trails, and experience the warmth of Althofen's residents.

PIANISTS
The accompanists of the Althofen master classes are far more than just musical accompanists. With the utmost professionalism, stylistic sensitivity, and a keen sense for the needs of the participants, they contribute significantly to the artistic development in the courses.
Their work forms the backbone of daily rehearsals and offers the young musicians a reliable, inspiring and trusting basis for their musical growth.

Althofen is easily accessible by car or public transport. From the B317, Althofen can be reached via Friesacher Straße (from the north) or Eisenstraße (from the south). Parking is available at the accommodations.
By train, you can take the Railjet directly from Vienna Central Station or other cities to Treibach-Althofen station. From there, the accommodation and course location are within walking distance. Timetables: www.oebb.at
The nearest airport is Klagenfurt. There is also a convenient train connection from Vienna Airport via Vienna Central Station.
